Happy Valentine's Day!

"Love is an irresistible desire to be irresistibly desired." ~Robert Frost

Well here we are again at another Valentine's Day. I hope that this post finds you well as it finds me and Cyndi happily enjoying chocolate. Heheh.

Anyway, here are my V-day Nails, and this is all you need:
~basecoat
~crackle
~red and pink nail polish
~toothpicks
~topcoat

1. Paint your nails with a base coat.
2. Paint all your nails one color.
3.Apply a crackle coat after it has redryed. Skip one nail.
4. Make a pool of the other nail polish and dip the tooth pick in the "pool" of nail polish.
5. Drag one diagonal line, and connect it with the other. Make them small enough that you can have several hearts.
6. And apply a topcoat!

And there ya go! Super easy! Hope you like.

Adios, amigos!

Black and Red V-Day Eyes!

I mentioned I might experiment with some black and red shadows. I am by no means a pro at this, but I tried. I've never really done something this dark before, so tell me what you think! I definitely need some practice. And a better red shadow! On to the pictures!

Products used: MAC Paint in Flammable, NYX Jumbo Stick in Cherry, Wet N Wild Limited Edition Xmas Palette from 2010 with the red in it, Urban Decay Blackout,  shimmery white shadow for inner corner and just under the brow bone, matte face powder for highlight.

Get the Look: This was pretty simple. I applied Flammable all over my lid except for right near the inner corner, then I topped that with a bit of Cherry Jumbo pencil. I then took the red from the palette and packed that onto the red paint. I then used an angled eyeliner brush from MAC to outline the "v" shape I wanted in black and filled it in with a crease brush from MAC. I then added more red to my lid. After that I lined my eyes, added mascara, liner and falsies. I filled in my brows. Then I took the same black and the eyeliner brush and put the black shadow underneath my lower lash line. I lined my waterline in black and then added my highlights and inner corner color.

This was really fun to do. I don't think that it is very flattering on my face, but I didn't do a full face look with it, so maybe I'll try it again as a whole some other time.

What do you think of this dramatic look?

Valentine's Eye Makeup Idea!

I wanted to do some kind of fun Valentine's Day eye makeup and this is what I came up with.

Products used: Too Faced Shadow Insurance in Candlelight, NYX Jumbo Pencil in Hot Pink, Jesse's Girl  Eye Dust (no name, but it was bright pink and sparkly), Urban Decay eyeshadow in Last Call, Urban Decay eyeshadow in Junkshow, Urban Decay shadow in Blackout, MAC Pigment in Pink Pearl, Jordana FabuLiner in black, Ardell 116 falsies, MAC Lingering brown Pencil, Maybelline The Falsies Mascara.

Get the Look: This is a fairly simple look. I used my finger to apply TFSI in Candlelight all over my lid and browbone. Then I applied Hot Pink Jumbo pencil on the center of my lid, not going all the way to the inner corner or outer crease. I took my finger and blended the Hot Pink out a bit to soften the edges. I then took a flat shader brush and packed the hot pink Jesse's Girl eye dust all over my lid, leaving the inner corners bare. I then took Urban Decay Last call, and using a crease brush started blending that into my crease and creating a bit of a winged "v" shape on the outer corner of my eye. After I blended that in and up toward my browbone a bit, I started adding Blackout to darken the very outer edges of the shadow, as the Last Call shadow didn't provide enough oomph in contrast to the bright pink. I added a bit of Junkshow just past the middle of of my lid toward the outer "v" to blend it all togehter. Next, I added a matte powder highlight (just used my face powder) and then used pink pearl on my inner corners to brighten them up. I then lined my lids with the Fabuliner, curled my lashes, applied mascara and added the Ardell lashes. I took a bit of the three eye shadows underneath my lower lid in the same order from inner to outer and then lined my waterline with a black liner.

You could use whatever colors you wanted to, but these are what I had on hand. I sort of want to try to do a red and black look also. This is fairly wearable, especially if you pair it with mostly nude lips and cheeks.

What do you think of this look?

Thanks so much for reading!

Valentine's Day Nail Ideas!

I put together a few nail ideas for Valentine's Day. I am completely nail art challenged and was able to do them, so I think they are pretty darn simple. Hope you enjoy!

This was probably the most difficult one of them all. I just used Essie Fancy Delancy, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in White On and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Strobe Light for the glitter, and OPI Big Apple Red for the red polka dots.

Get the Look: Paint each nail white, then let it dry. Then paint your ring, middle and pinky fingers half pink in a diagonal line. Using a dotting tool, toothpick, hair pin, or ballpoint pen, put dots of each opposing color on either side of the diagonal line. Using the dotting tool again, make three pink hearts and add some red dots in between. Finish with glitter!!!

This one is the simplest of the three in my opinion. I used OPI Big Apple Red and Konad White with Konad  Plate M78 and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Strobe Light.

Get the Look:  Paint each nail with a red of your choice. It can be sparkly, glass fleck, metallic, your choice. I used a creme red. Apply 1 coat of Seche Vite (optional, just helps it dry faster in my experience). Konad each nail using the Konad White (the only color that I feel is a Konad brand must have for successful stamping). Allow the Konad design a few minutes to dry. Apply a glitter of your choice, and then a topcoat of your choice to seal the design.

This one is also very simple! I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in White On, Sally Hansen Insta Dri in Presto Pink, and OPI Big Apple Red.

Get the Look: Paint your nails with a shade of pink that you like, keeping the ring finger bare. Paint your ring finger white. Allow polishes to dry. Once dry, get your dotting tool ready and add white and red dots to the pink fingers and pink and red dots to the white finger.

All in all these were really easy to do. The macro shots I took show all of my little mistakes, but they all looked really good in person. That is saying something coming from me, as I have trouble with noticeable imperfections on my nails. It took me forever to learn to give myself a french manicure that I would wear on my nails.

There are a ton of variations you could do on these nail designs, using whatever colors, textures and patterns you wanted. You could add rhinestones, dense glitter nail polishes, switch up the accent finger...pretty much whatever you wanted to!

Thanks so much for reading! Have a wonderful day.

Bangs are Back!

I've spotted a few celebrities sporting new fringe in the last few days! There are two discernable styles I have seen. The soft, blunt bang and the wispy, jagged bang. Keep on reading to see pictures of the styles!

First up is the soft, blunt bang:

Kelly Clarkson

Rachel McAdams

Jessica Biel

The wispy, jagged bang:

Rihanna

Sarah Michelle Gellar

Reese Witherspoon

I am more of a fan of the wispy, jagged style, than the blunt, thick ones. I think they look really cute on Rachel McAdams, but other than that, I think they are pretty hard to pull off without being too "middle school". I think the wispier styles are more flattering, fun and edgy. I love how the wispy bangs look good on a wide range of ages and faces, from Reese's heart shaped face to Sarah Michelle Gellar's (SMG) more oval face. I think this is a style gals into their 40s could easily pull off. I really fell in love with how they styled SMG's bangs on the 2012 return of Ringer. They looked so soft and moveable and they framed her face just perfectly! I would love to try bangs like these, but I'm not really a bang gal. I do love side bangs though! They help balance my face out!

What do you think of these fringe styles?

Spring 2012 Color Predictions!

So, we have seen some of the nail polish collections, we have seen the runway collections and I think I have narrowed it down to the three "it" colors for Spring! Of course there are shade variations of each - from peach to tangerine, and lilac to periwinkle, but all in all these are the colors to be wearing!

Shades such as Pistachio, Mint, Kiwi and Peridot

Shades such as Lavender, Lilac, and Periwinkle(more blue toned)

Shades such as Tangerine, Apricot, Cantaloupe, Peach and Coral

I absolutely love Spring colors and collections and I am SO glad that many of the colors this year are brighter and less greyed out than last year! I am tired of the muted tones. I still love to wear grey and taupe(fave!), but I am looking forward to pairing them with the above colors for a fresh new Spring look!

Get the look: The easiest and most affordable way to bring some of these colors into your wardrobe is to pick up a statement piece of jewelry or nail polish. You can find many options of nail color at the drugstores these days and they can range from $0.99 to $8.00+. Tangerine lip color is huge this Spring and also is very easy to find. Lavender lip color has become more and more popular and I am really loving the look! It is more difficult to find in stores, but perhaps some of the Spring collections will feature a lovely shade of purple for those of us willing to brave the lilac lip trend! And of course you could incorporate these colors into your eye and cheek makeup palette. Shades of peach and apricot are universally flattering and they come in a very wide range of colors!

Another option is to spend a bit more money on a statement pair of shoes or sunglasses in one of these colors. I personally think some lime colored flats would be a perfect way to Spring-ify your wardrobe, or maybe a tangerine colored jacket or lavender sunglasses! Scarves are a more affordable way of making a huge statment! Be sure to pick one that brightens your skin tone, since scarves are so close to one's face they can really add that extra something to a complexion and an outfit!

The options are endless and Sammi and I will show you how we are bringing Spring into our wardrobe as the season approaches!

Hope you all are having a fantastic day!!

Our Hello!

Hey guys! This blog will primarily be tutorials on hair, makeup, nails, etc., but we will definitely stray away sometimes. We wanted to make this video so that you guys can get to know us as people, as well as your magical everyday gurus:) If you have any questions for us, please post them and we will get back to you as soon as we can. We would appreciate it so much if you follow us.

P.S. I (Sammi) know that Lady Antebellum is a group/band. But I was referring to specifically her voice because she is so wonderful.

P.P.S. We don't mean to offend any Twilight fans. Not only do we love the books and movies, but we understand everyone has their own opinion on the series and we respect that. Thanks guys!

A Rundown of Spring Nail Polish Collections

I put together this little collage of all of the Spring nail polish collections that are coming out that I think will be the season favorites! Of course, there are tons of other companies out there that aren't featured in this collage. Drugstore brands aren't featured as well, but that is because we rarely get the previews of them before they are spotted in stores. I am really excited about these colors! Spring and Fall collections are my favorites so expect to see lots of these colors featured in NOTD posts or "nail of the day".

Be sure to click on the picture for maximum effect!

Thanks so much for reading and have an amazing day!

XOXO
